Commenting after a visit to the Marywell Centre in Aberdeen South which runs training courses aimed at preparing people for work, Scottish Liberal Democrat President Malcolm Bruce said: "Our economic proposals towards the banks, infrastructure and investment in green technology would boost the economy, and provide more opportunities for the young people we saw today.
"Many of these young people I met today in Aberdeen South with John Sleigh were struggling to find a job. Under Labour, youth unemployment has doubled.
"A Liberal Democrat government will introduce a work placement scheme to make sure that young people can the gain skills, qualifications and work experience that will enable them to get the jobs they need.
"It is only fair to give our young people the start they need."
