Fred Mackintosh Signs the Power 2010 Pledge

Fred Mackintosh, prospective Liberal Democrat MP for Edinburgh South has signed the power 2010 pledge, committing to fixing Britain's broken political system.

The Power 2010 campaign's five main aims include scrapping the expensive and discredited ID cards scheme and reforming the House of Lords to make it democratically elected.

Neither the Labour or Conservative candidate for Edinburgh South decided to sign the pledge.

Fred Mackintosh said

“I was delighted to be able to sign the Power 2010 pledge.

“Liberal Democrats are the only party who have always been committed to fixing our broken politics.

“Liberal Democrats will change parliament forever by introducing a fair, proportional voting system for Westminster, European and local elections. We will end safe seats, we will allow constituents to sack MPs who have broken the rules, we will involve the people in producing a written constitution, we will reform the House of Lords and replace it with an elected second chamber.

“We need a healthy democracy that works for all of us and not just a powerful few.”
