And they're off!

Liberal Democrat Westminster Candidate for Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale, Catriona Bhatia, has welcomed the official announcement of the General Election date as 6th May.

Speaking after Gordon Brown went to the Queen to ask for Parliament to be dissolved Catriona Bhatia said;

“We have been out and about in the constituency for many months, and our polling and most political commentators see Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale as a key marginal seat. Many people are disillusioned with politics and politicians but I would urge them to take the opportunity to vote for a real change at this election. That change locally means a vote for the LibDems as this seat is now a two horse race between me and the sitting Tory MP. With so many undecided voters, that race could be very close so every vote will be important.”

Catriona added “After the election, Parliament, the voting system and MPs expenses must be reformed and the Liberal Democrats are the only party committed to real reforms which will restore democracy and public trust.
