Liberal Democrats back call for improvement to child and elderly services

Liberal democrats have backed calls in a major review for improvements to care services for children and elderly people. Commenting on a social work review released today that found that a “mixed picture” across Scotland’s 32 local authorities as services cope with rising demands and a squeeze on resources. Liberal Democrat Health Spokesman, Ross Finnie MSP said:

“The findings of this report make for uncomfortable reading for the Government. In a time of financial squeeze it the most vulnerable who stand to suffer most.

“In a fair society, Liberal Democrats want to protect children’s services and care of the elderly especially given that the numbers of people over 85 are going to rocket by 45% in the next 8 years stretching resources further.“
