Bruce welcomes raising awareness of school bus safety

Commenting on the visit to the Scottish parliament by Yellow Bus Commission, who are looking into the benefits of introducing American style school transport to the UK, Malcolm Bruce MP for Gordon said:

“I am very interested in School bus safety and I welcome the work the Yellow Bus Commission has done in Scotland to increase awareness and open up the debate. We all agree that it is essential for school buses and the children that travel in them to be as safe as possible.

“However, I want to see two important issues addressed by the Yellow Bus commission which I feel have not been tackled yet. I want to see no over taking of a stationary school buses become legislation and I want to see a coordinated level of national electronic signage around schools to increase safety.

“There must be cooperation between the UK and Scottish Governments to keep pupils on buses safe
