Commenting on figures showing that Scottish housing is at an all time low since the Second World War, Liberal Democrat Housing spokesman Jamie Stone said:

“This is very bad news for the Scottish housing industry. Scots are facing huge difficulties in obtaining affordable and available housing. The number of new private homes being built is down by 90% in Edinburgh and the Borders, and by 85% in Glasgow and Fife.

“The Scottish Government has failed in their promise to provide affordable housing. We want answers from SNP Ministers about how they are going to provide the 35,000 homes promised by 2015.

“A failure to answer, a deafening silence, will send a very clear message to the electorate.”
