Commenting as the Scottish Government launches a consultation on alcohol labelling, amid reports that only 15% of labels contain all the health risks of alcohol consumption, Liberal Democrat Health spokesperson Ross Finnie MSP said:
“Alcohol industry leaders agreed to start using these labels, but three years only 15% are doing so.
“This makes a mockery of their claims to be socially responsible and the case for mandatory warnings much stronger.
“It’s clear that voluntary labelling agreements with large sections of the alcohol industry aren’t worth the paper they are written on.”
Ends.
