Commenting on the Scotland Office report on the 'Devolution Dividend', Liberal Democrat Finance spokesperson Jeremy Purvis said,
'This debate should not be about who can drape themselves in the Saltire the most.
'It should be an objective look at what's in the best interests of the Scottish people and economy.
'The way forward is recognising that Scotland benefits hugely from being part of a wider Britain, but we need to address the democratic deficit that exists by the Scottish Parliament simply being a spending Parliament.
'It would have been equally helpful for the Secretary of State today to be progressing Calman's recommendations for a stronger Scottish Parliament rather than joining the Tories in kicking this into the long grass.'
