Commenting after the issue of criminals on community sentences working to help clear the snow was raised at FMQs today, Liberal Democrat Justice spokesperson Robert Brown MSP said:

"This is exactly why Liberal Democrats back community sentences instead of costly and ineffective short term prison stints.

"They make criminals work to repay the communities they have damaged.

"Better this than having criminals building snowmen in prison exercise yards - which is where the Tories would rather they were."
