Tories and Labour trying to kick Calman into the long grass - Brown

Commenting after speaking in a debate on further powers for the Scottish Parliament, Liberal Democrat MSP Robert Brown said:

“Labour and the Tories are trying to kick the Calman proposals into the long grass. They want to fudge and delay real change for the Scottish Parliament.

"Labour refuse to introduce a White Paper, far less a draft Bill, on more powers until after the General Election and the Tories want a whole new White Paper and refuse to commit to a timescale or details.

“They are standing in the way of real change now. They will have to explain this choice to voters at the next election.

“There is no reason why laws to give the Scottish Parliament more powers cannot begin to go through Westminster straight away."

Ends.
