Commenting on the Government’s review of teacher training, Liberal Democrat Education spokesperson Margaret Smith MSP said:

“The Scottish Government has failed teachers across the country, many of whom have serious concerns about the impending launch of Curriculum for Excellence.

“A review of teacher training won’t help those who are already teaching in schools and whom the Scottish Government seems to expect to take responsibility for whether the Curriculum for Excellence succeeds or fails.

“This review also won’t help the teachers already in training who don’t have a job to go to.”
