Rumbles in call for flood fund for North East

Following the widespread flooding in the North East, Liberal Democrat MSP for West Aberdeenshire and Kincardine Mike Rumbles has lodged a question to the First Minister to ask if the Scottish Government will consider setting up a special fund to help Aberdeenshire Council with flood relief.

Commenting, Mr Rumbles said:

“The North East has been badly hit by flooding, with over 50 people evacuated from their homes in Stonehaven and 70 people having to be rescued from flood waters in Huntly over the weekend.

“On behalf of those residents, I’d like to thank Grampian Fire and Rescue teams for their help on what has been a difficult and frightening weekend for many in the North East.

“The First Minister must set up a special fund to help local authorities like Aberdeenshire Council with flood relief for this kind of emergency.”
