Alan Reid, Liberal Democrat MP for Argyll & Bute, has written to Scottish Rural Affairs Minister Richard Lochhead urging him to give a grant from the Scottish Rural Development Programme (SRDP) towards the cost of a new jetty at Arrochar.
Mr Reid wrote to the Minister after receiving a reply from Strathclyde Partnership for Transport which said that the future of the jetty project depended on it being awarded funding from the Scottish Rural Development Programme (SRDP).

Alan Reid said, “The new jetty would be a tremendous boost for tourism in the area. It would allow cruise ships like the Waverley to sail up Loch Long and embark and disembark passengers at Arrochar. The Scottish Government must support the local community with funding.”
