Commenting on the next tranche of school building announced by the SNP Government, Liberal Democrat Education spokesperson Margaret Smith said:
“It’s been reported that 1 in 5 Scottish primary schools are crumbling. So while today’s announcement will benefit a handful of children in some areas in Scotland, it goes nowhere near far enough.
“We’ve had over two years of total paralysis in school building and planning before the SNP started rushing to get some token bricks built by polling day. Instead of cutting the ribbon on new schools built by the previous Executive, and wasting two years on their expensive and ineffective Scottish Futures Trust the SNP should have been working on a real plan of action to lift pupils out of crumbling schools.
“They are letting down parents and pupils across the country.”
