Commenting on a report from Shelter Scotland showing an increasing number of children involved in eviction cases, Liberal Democrat MSP Ross Finnie said:

“There are a staggering number of evictions where children are involved. Those involved in the housing system need to show some humanity.

“Evicting families with children should be a last resort.

“We are very supportive of the passage of the Home Owner and Debtor Protection Bill but it is highly complex. In the interests of those who are facing eviction it is important that we get the Bill right. In this complex area of law it is vital that threatened homeowners get the protection they deserve.”
