2014 Games must leave health legacy for future generations - Finnie

Commenting after speaking in a debate on the Glasgow 2014 legacy plan, Liberal Democrat Health spokesperson Ross Finnie MSP said:

"The 2014 Games are a phenomenal opportunity to showcase not just Glasgow, but the whole of Scotland.

"Currently, over a third of adults and over two-thirds of children aren't physically active enough in Scotland. Hosting the Commonwealth Games is an opportunity to tackle this shocking reality.

"SNP Ministers, however, are forcing cuts on community groups and sports facilities across Scotland with their tight settlement for local government.

"Ministers must ensure that communities all across Scotland are able to access high quality sporting facilities. This will allow every local authority to leave a lasting legacy of improved health and physical activity for future generations."

Ends.
