Sir Menzies Campbell MP, Liberal Democrat member of the Foreign Affairs
Select Committee has today warned the First Minister against rushing into the arena of foreign politics without sufficient experience.

Menzies Campbell MPSir Menzies' comments were made during an International Briefing at the
Liberal Democrats Spring Conference in Perth today.

Commenting after the briefing, Sir Menzies Campbell said:

“The current international climate is a complex one.

“To use language that may be recognisable; foreign affairs at the moment is no place for a novice. Novices can commit acts of unpardonable folly.

“I should have thought that Alex Salmond has quite enough on his plate in Scotland without looking for transatlantic photo opportunities.”
