Rennie calls for Government to seek deal with mutual sector to keep Dunfermline an independent Scottish mutual

Dunfermline Building Society’s MP has called on the Government to seek a deal with the mutual sector to secure the future for the Society.

Willie Rennie, who is campaigning to keep the Dunfermline as an independent Scottish mutual, believes that a deal between the Government and building societies is an option that must be seriously considered.Willie Rennie MP: Dunfermline & West FifeWillie Rennie MP: Dunfermline & West Fife

“I don’t want any stone left unturned and a deal between building societies and the government to keep the Dunfermline as an independent Scottish mutual is a potential way forward.

“The societies have a collective interest in looking after one of their family. And because of the Dunfermline’s long proud heritage in Scotland they must recognise the need to keep it independent and Scottish.

“I urge the Government and the mutual sector to get round the table to sort this out now. Any further delay in seeking a resolution can only result in anxiety and concern amongst savers and the wider financial sector.”
