Liberal Democrat Finance spokesperson Jeremy Purvis MSP has revealed an 18% increase in the number of Government press releases issued since the SNP took office.

A Parliamentary Answer received by Mr Purvis shows that in 2006 1,899 local and national press releases were issued. By 2008 this figure had
shot up to 2,247.

Commenting, Mr Purvis said:

“This answer shows an 18 per cent increase in the number of press releases issued since the SNP came to power.

“It confirms that the SNP is governing by press release. The nationalists are more interested in spin than they are in working for Scotland.

"Instead of churning out spin, they should be focusing on the substance.”
