Commenting on reports that the Merger Action Group appealing against the proposed takeover of HBOS will make its case to the Competition Appeal Tribunal on Wednesday, Tavish Scott, leader of the Liberal Democrats in Scotland said:

“It is important that HBOS shareholders see the outcome of this appeal before voting on the takeover. I hope that many might be convinced that this is not in their long term interests.

“The OFT report was clear in its finding that competition would be reduced and that account holders and small business holders in particular would pay a price for that.”
