Scott marks St Andrew’s Day

Commenting ahead of St Andrew’s Day, Tavish Scott, leader of the Liberal Democrats in Scotland has marked St Andrew’s Day by calling for a real home rule settlement for Scotland.

Mr Scott also criticised the SNP Government for failing to have a “Plan B” to help the country through the economic crisis.

Commenting from his Shetland constituency, Mr Scott said:

“St Andrew's Day gives us the opportunity to reflect where Scotland is now and where we want to be in the future.

“On this day, we know that the Calman Commission’s interim report is imminent. We want a much more radical and ambitious home rule settlement for Scotland, with strong tax powers.

“Liberal Democrats believe that a strengthened Scottish Parliament within the UK is the right way forward for our country. New powers will help us with the new economic problems we face.

“The wheels are coming off the SNP Government. People are seeing this Government for what it is. An SNP with no Plan B to deal with the economic crisis we’re now facing.”
