Commenting as the families of hospital patients who died as a result of Clostridium Difficile outbreaks in the Vale of Leven hospital launch a petition calling for an immediate Public Inquiry, Liberal Democrat Health spokesperson Ross Finnie MSP said:

“The Parliament first called for a Public Inquiry into C. Difficile over two months ago. So far the Health Secretary has failed to do what is in the best interests of the people of Scotland.

"The Crown Office's current investigation into the C. Difficile outbreaks should in no way prevent the Health Secretary from setting up the first stages of a full Public Inquiry into the matter.

“Liberal Democrats fully support these families and their campaign for an immediate Public Inquiry into C. Difficile across all of Scotland’s hospitals."
