Commenting on the news that VisitScotland.com has been brought into public ownership, Liberal Democrat Culture spokesperson Iain Smith MSP said:

“I welcome the announcement that VisitScotland.com has been brought under public ownership.

“VisitScotland.com used to be run by a private company and it was difficult to get it to respond to tourism business needs.

“Liberal Democrats have been at the forefront of highlighting the problems with VisitScotland.com. There will be great relief amongst small hoteliers and other tourism based industries at this news.”
