Liberal Democrat Energy spokesperson Liam McArthur MSP has demanded the Scottish Government end the lingering uncertainty over their plans to improve energy efficiency by publishing the promised energy efficiency action plan.
Speaking during a debate on energy efficiency, Mr McArthur said:
“Despite all the warm words and earnest protestations, this government still flatters to deceive when it comes to energy efficiency and promoting microrenewables.
“Ministers tend to announce and retreat. Nods and winks are given to the press and energy organisations. Carefully choreographed photo opportunities are arranged. A sense is created that more progress is happening than is actually the case.
“It beggars belief that 18 months since this government came into office, Ministers have still to publish their action plan on energy efficiency and microgeneration. Today would have been a perfect opportunity for the Scottish Government set out its proposals and crucially how it intends to achieve them.”
