Tavish Scott MSP, the newly elected leader of the Liberal Democrats in Scotland, joined the crowds on the Royal Mile to congratulate Scotland’s Olympic heroes.
Speaking after cheering on Scottish medallists Chris Hoy, Katherine Grainger, David Florence and Ross Edgar, Mr Scott said:
“I want their success to inspire young people across Scotland to get active and involved in sport. But today, it was just fantastic to congratulate the athletes for their tremendous performances that captivated the nation.
“The atmosphere on the Royal Mile was electric. Chris Hoy is Scotland’s most successful Olympian. Katherine Grainger won her third Olympic medal, Ross Edgar had a superb finish in the keirin to snatch a silver medal and we have high hopes that David Florence will follow his first Olympic medal with further success in 2012.”
