Commenting on the Independent Review of the Vale of Leven Hospital, which recommends that patients who may require treatment under anaesthetic be treated elsewhere, Liberal Democrat Shadow Health Secretary Ross Finnie MSP said:
“This report is, essentially, recommending the centralisation of health services in Glasgow.
“One of the reasons Argyll and Clyde Health Board was disbanded was its fixation with centralising key services at the Royal Alexandra Infirmary in Paisley. Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board was not created simply to repeat that folly.”
