Commenting on the Government’s announcement on improving the nutritional value of hospital food, Liberal Democrat Public Health spokesperson Jamie Stone MSP said:

“The policy of moving away from a culture of unhealthy food being readily available in hospitals was a key commitment in the Liberal Democrat manifesto.

“The Government need to tell us the details about how the nutritional champions will work. What authority will they have to change menus or hospital purchasing practices?

“Liberal Democrats want to see an increased emphasis on supplying patients with quality local produce and new nutritional standards for all hospital meals. Will the Government provide funding to the Health Boards to pay for this?”
