Commenting on the campaign from wildlife conservationists for tougher regulations at sea, prompted by an oil spillage along a stretch of coastline, Liberal Democrat Shadow Rural Affairs Secretary Mike Rumbles said:
“In government Liberal Democrats led the way on wildlife protection with robust new laws. But, this latest oil spill in Caithness proves that more must be done to protect Scottish wildlife.
“We will continue to press the Environment Secretary to enforce properly the rules on wildlife protection.”
