Following the publication of the Audit Scotland Report ‘Improving the school estate’, Liberal Democrat Schools spokesperson Hugh O’Donnell MSP has urged the Government to implement the recommendations and publish a clear timescale and funding details.

Commenting, Mr O’Donnell said:

“The Audit Scotland Report makes two recommendations in particular that I want to see taken forward by the Scottish Government.

“I agree with the report that the Scottish Government should work with councils to implement standardised approaches for collecting information about the condition of school buildings and also that ministers should report progress on achieving new and clearly defined targets.

“I urge ministers to commit to implementing these recommendations and also to publish a clear timescale and funding details. The Scottish Government must take action to improve the conditions of Scottish schools.”
