Speaking during a debate on the Spending Review, Liberal Democrat Shadow Finance Secretary Tavish Scott MSP has condemned the SNP administration for producing the most opaque Budget ever seen since devolution and breaking key manifesto promises.

Commenting Mr Scott said:

“Wading through the most opaque Budget since devolution, Liberal Democrats have uncovered a litany of broken promises from the SNP.

“We have an SNP minority government with a majority ego. A government whose motto is if you say it often enough, people will come to believe it. A government with the arrogance to dump its own promise to scrap student debt without even bringing those plans to the floor of this chamber, and then claim without an ounce of shame that it is delivering for students, when not one Scottish student will see their loan debt written off as promised.

“It appears that with the SNP, promises easily made are promises easily broken.”
