Alex Salmond is still drawing his Westminster salary, despite promising not to do so during the Scottish election campaign.

The information was uncovered in a Parliamentary Answer to the Liberal Democrats.

Commenting, Liberal Democrat Shadow Scottish Secretary, Alistair Carmichael MP said:

“Alex Salmond won the votes of the people of Scotland on the express promise that he would not continue to draw his Westminster salary.

“He now needs to explain why he has continued to take that money. If he does not now repay it his standing as a politician will suffer enormous damage.”
