The introduction of Community Courts in Glasgow will help cut reoffending, according to Scottish Liberal Democrat Justice spokesperson Jeremy Purvis. However Mr Purvis said the Liberal Democrats would go much further.
Jeremy Purvis MSPMr Purvis said:
“More action is needed to cut reoffending and Community Courts will be a significant step in achieving that goal.
“Liberal Democrats want to go further and end very short term prison sentences, replacing them with tougher community sentences.”
“I hope that given Labour are now supporting our proposals for adults, they will support our radical, but popular proposals for restorative justice for youth crime as well. This will mean that both youth and adult offenders can begin to make amends for their behaviour.”
