Scottish Liberal Democrat Finance spokesperson Andrew Arbuckle MSP has slammed the Nationalist response to figures showing the cross border public spending gap is narrowing.

Andrew Arbuckle MSPMr Arbuckle said:

“These latest figures deserve proper consideration, and not the usual knee-jerk condemnation from the Nationalists.

“Scotland should have a needs-based modern settlement rather than the Barnett formula which is now completely out of date.

“We have seen record investment in public services in Scotland, but the Nationalists would have us believe that they can spend more than the Executive and tax less. This is not a credible position to take and the people of Scotland will see right through it. It’s clear the SNP’s sums don’t add up.”
