Speaking ahead of a Parliamentary debate into health promotion in schools, Scottish Liberal Democrat Education spokesperson Iain Smith MSP has called for more action to improve children’s health.

Iain Smith MSPMr Smith said:

“We have made great progress in improving school meals. Even Jamie Oliver agrees that Scotland is “light years ahead of England”.

“Scottish Liberal Democrats do not believe that any part of the public sector in Scotland should contribute to ill health. This bill is a big step in the right direction.

“However, we must look to go further still. A healthy diet must be backed up by having regular exercise in their communities and schools.”
