Euan Robson MSP, Health SpokespersonLiberal Democrat Health spokesperson Euan Robson MSP has welcomed the Audit Scotland report into catering for hospital patients. The report found that although catering services are offering an improved level of choice to patients, NHS boards still need to do more to improve the nutritional care of patients.

Speaking from Parliament Mr Robson said:

“The Liberal Democrats are at the forefront of pressing for better hospital food.

“We want to see the same sort of healthy eating programme introduced in hospitals as was introduced in our schools with the ‘Hungry for Success’ initiative.

“Better hospital food should help patient’s recovery and reinforce messages about healthy eating. It also presents an ideal opportunity to buy food locally, helping our farmers and cutting back on pollution from unnecessary food miles.

“Better hospital meals mean better health, better income for farmers and a better environment for all.”
