Minister needs to come clean on whether CMAL board threatened to resign

Cabinet Secretary for Finance and the Economy Derek Mackay today dodged questions on whether or not the board of Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL) threatened to resign following a statement updating parliament on the company’s situation.

Willie Rennie has demanded clarity on the situation saying:

“The Cabinet Secretary tried to dodge this basic question on the resignation of the board but he needs to be transparent with parliament and the public.

“Revelations over recent weeks on the state of Ferguson’s finances and operations have necessitated the need for greater parliamentary scrutiny.

“The government needs to come clean and confirm whether or not the CMAL board threatened to resign.”
