McInnes welcomes moves to tackle revenge porn

Commenting as the Scottish Government introduced a new Bill that will create a specific criminal offence to protect Scots from so-called revenge porn, Scottish Liberal Democrat Justice Spokeswoman Alison McInnes MSP said:

“Lib Dems at the UK Parliament took action to help restrict the insidious and malicious sharing of intimate images. I am pleased that the Scottish Government is now acting to ensure that people in Scotland are protected too.

“So-called revenge porn can destroy lives. It causes victims huge harm. We need to ensure that perpetrators can be held to account for their actions and the creation of a new criminal offence will be an important step in the right direction.”
