Scottish Liberal Democrat Business Manager Alison McInnes MSP today encouraged Scots to have their say on further powers for the Scottish Parliament as the deadline for members of the public to submit their views to the Smith Commission approaches.
Political representatives to the Smith Commission will meet for the second time this week and the public have until this Friday (31st October) to make submissions to Lord Smith as work to reach agreement on further powers continues.
Commenting, Alison McInnes MSP said:
“The referendum campaign invigorated our democracy. Millions of people cast their vote and countless Scots chose to get involved in politics for the first time. We need to build on this progress. I hope that as many people as possible, Yes and No voters alike, will remain involved in the positive discussion on the future of our country.
“Scotland’s five main political parties have set out their views on the powers that we think Holyrood needs to help build a stronger Scotland within the UK. But it is vital that everyone has the chance to have their say.
“There is less than a week left for members of the public to submit their views to Lord Smith and I would encourage people to ensure their voices are heard.”
