Commenting on the publication of Creative Scotland's Art Strategy, Scottish Liberal Democrats’ Arts spokesperson, Councillor Eileen McCartin said:
“It is good to see that Creative Scotland is continuing to support the many areas of the Arts which give Scotland such a vibrant and creative industry. It is essential that Creative Scotland supports new and young artists and film-makers as well as those core contributors to the Arts scene.
“It is also essential that the body of Creative Scotland provides a one-stop shop approach to those who are creating and contributing, particularly in relation to funding and support, and provide continuity of expertise in the many avenues now under Creative Scotland’s control.
“I don’t want creative talent stifled by overly bureaucratic box ticking which has been the experience of some, particularly in the film industry side of Creative Scotland, in trying to access funding.
“An overall strategy such as this is very positive, but the actions must reflect the good words contained in this strategy report.”
