Commenting on the resignation of the SPA CEO, John Foley, Scottish Liberal Democrat justice spokesperson Liam McArthur MSP said:
"This is the fourth resignation in as many years at the top of the police. SNP ministers can't wash their hands of this. Throughout their flawed centralisation officers and staff have been trying to do the best for their communities but have had to put up with turmoil at the top.
“Over the last 12 months there has been little positive news to come out of the SPA, tarnished by its culture of secrecy, evidence of dysfunctional relationships and accusations of nepotism. Now the Chief Executive and Chair of the SPA are both on their way out and the Chief Constable is the subject of an investigation.
"It is time the Justice Secretary woke up to this crisis. He must come to Parliament when it returns to set out how he will end the chaos that the SPA finds itself in."
