McArthur: Government must strive to be wind power world leader

Responding to new data from WWF Scotland and  WeatherEnergy, showing a massive increase in Scotland's wind power output, Scottish Liberal Democrat energy spokesperson Liam McArthur MSP said:

"Renewable sources such as wind are going to play a massive part in delivering a greener, more sustainable future.

"In government Liberal Democrats led the way by proposing a 50% renewable energy target by 2030 and oversaw £40bn of investment in renewable sources. But by scrapping support for many forms of renewables, the Conservative government are putting this progress at risk.

"This new data shows that Scotland can be a world leader in developing and rolling out new technologies. Now we need both of Scotland's government to work together to ensure that we build a more sustainable future."
