Kevin is a native of Glasgow and was brought up in Cathcart in the Southside of the city. Kevin works for Glasgow Caledonian University Students’ Association training and supporting the work of student representatives. Prior to this, he served as a sabbatical officer at the University of Strathclyde Students' Association after graduating with a Masters degree in Chemical & Process Engineering in 2007. In his spare time Kevin enjoys participating in public speaking and debating competitions and has been volunteering as a judge and trainer for the English Speaking Union’s schools’ events in Scotland. Kevin has been campaigning for the Liberal Democrats since joining the party in 2005, including spending time delivering literature and speaking to residents in the 2008 by-election in Glasgow East. Through continued involvement in the Liberal Democrats’ youth movement, Liberal Youth, Kevin has played an integral part in shaping party policy through Liberal Youth Scotland’s successful motions to party conference - the first, to renew the party’s commitment to a Minimum Income Guarantee - which would help out thousands of students across Scotland – and the second, a new commitment to form a commission to investigate the blood donation ban which excludes many people from giving blood for reasons based on prejudice rather than medical evidence. Through his membership of the Electoral Reform Society, NO2ID and the GMB, Kevin is committed to a fairer system of electing our government, scrapping of intrusive and expensive schemes which limit our freedoms and supporting the principles of workers’ rights.
