Lib Dem Scottish affairs Spokesperson Christine Jardine MP has today described a Scottish Parliament delegation, including Tory MSPs, in Westminster to lobby for amendments to the EU withdrawal bill as ‘the latest humiliation for Scots Tory MPs’.
Members of the Scottish Parliament’s constitution committee are expected to press members of the House of Lords to back amendments to the Bill.
Scottish Conservative MPs failed to support efforts in the Commons to protect devolution from a so-called power grab.
Ms Jardine said:
"The delegation includes two Scottish Conservative MSPs.
"This begging trip by the Scottish Tories is their latest humiliation.
"Sending MSPs to beg Lords to do the right thing on Brexit because the 13 Scottish Tory MPs have failed is a telling indictment.
"All other parties keep proposing sensible amendments to the Brexit Bill to protect Scottish interests but Scottish Conservative MPs keep voting against them."
“Let’s hope for all our sakes they eventually see sense.”
