Candidate for the Highlands and Islands
Born in 1992 in Inverness, David Green attended Dingwall Academy in Ross-Shire. He went on to study Politics and International Relations at the University of Aberdeen, where he graduated with a First-Class Honours in 2014.
Shaped by the Scout Association, which David served as a volunteer and member of their Scottish Board, David feels strongly about the Highland communities he calls home and proud of their place in a wider world. This environment helped inform David’s early political thinking and commitment to the highland liberal tradition.
Whilst at University, David became actively involved in the Scottish Liberal Democrats. A key campaigner in the North East, he was elected President of Liberal Youth Scotland from 2012-2014 where he notably led the youth wing from strength to strength; campaigning for a crackdown on illegal rental fees and leading opposition on SNP cuts to student bursaries. David continues to serve as a member of the Scottish Party Executive.
Outside of party politics, David has built a track record serving young people as a non-sabbatical officer for the Aberdeen University Students’ Association from 2012 - 2013 and as the Member of the Scottish Youth Parliament for his home seat of Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch from 2013 – 2015.
Graduating in 2014, David joined Charles Kennedy MP as his Press Officer and Organiser for his 2015 General Election campaign for Ross, Skye and Lochaber. A political mentor to David, Charles Kennedy played an inspirational role in his decision to seek public office.
David now works in the Scottish Parliament for Liam McArthur MSP. David cares strongly about protecting the environment, empowering people from all walks of life, and ensuring rural connectivity is at the top of the political agenda.
