Scottish Liberal Democrat general election campaign chief Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP has today accused the SNP of panicking about the Lib Dems. The comments come as the First Minister visits the second Lib Dem marginal seat this week, resorting to negative attacks in an increasingly miserable SNP campaign.
Mr Cole Hamilton said:
"The First Minister is obviously panicking about the rise of the Liberal Democrats with her second visit to a Liberal Democrat marginal seat this week.
"The SNP are running one of its most negative and miserable election campaigns. It shows that the SNP are very worried that the party will lose seats to the Liberal Democrats in seats across Scotland including East Dunbartonshire and North East Fife.
"But instead of miserable attacks on the Liberal Democrats the SNP leader needs to explain why local people in these areas should elect yet another nationalist who disagrees with their constituents on the big issue of independence. East Dunbartonshire and North East Fife rejected independence but their MPs have been plotting to deliver independence every day of the week."
