Scottish Liberal Democrat health spokesperson Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP has today said that until Scottish Conservatives stand up to their Westminster colleagues and secure an "NHS passport" for EU health service workers, they are "hurting not helping" efforts to boost general practice.
Speaking after First Minister's Questions, Mr Cole-Hamilton said:
“The Scottish Conservatives are right to identify that Scotland’s GP surgeries are underfunded and talented medics are leaving the profession.
"However as long as they put photo ops before securing the future of our vital NHS staff, they are hurting not helping efforts to boost general practice.
"Ruth Davidson is desperate to pretend that the Scottish Conservatives are cuddly and caring yet her MPs still trudge through the same voting lobbies backing the Prime Minister’s plans for a potential no deal Brexit that would deprive our NHS of essential staff.
“It’s time for the Scottish Conservatives to put up or shut up. Will they push back against Theresa May’s hard Brexit and press for an "NHS passport" for EU health service workers or will they continue to put their fragile party ahead of our vital health service?"
