Scottish Liberal Democrat deputy leader Alistair Carmichael has called on the Scottish Government to remember that Brexit is a UK fight. The comments come after the Scottish Brexit Minister Mike Russell published a report highlighting the concerns of businesses in Scotland over Brexit.
The First Minister recently agreed to talks between the Scottish Liberal Democrats and the Scottish Government over their support for a UK wide Brexit deal referendum which would give the British people a final say on the terms of Brexit.
Commenting Mr Carmichael said:
“The Tories headless chicken approach to Brexit risks businesses up and down the country. Mr Russell is right when he says that businesses are concerned about the impact of Brexit in fact businesses across the whole of the UK will share these concerns.
“Brexit is not a Scottish-English battle, it is about the economic and social well being of the whole of the UK. We will talk to the SNP Government about how we can go forward with Brexit but we are not interested in driving a wedge between Scotland and England.”
