Commenting as new GDP figures revealed growth in Scotland is lagging behind the rest of the UK, Scottish Liberal Democrat economy spokeswoman Cllr Carolyn Caddick said:
“The SNP are showing extraordinary complacency over figures which reveal Scotland’s economy is lagging behind the rest of the UK. Brexit will present enormous challenges but these figures pre-date the referendum.
“The Scottish Government have admitted they have no idea when the first payments from their growth scheme will reach businesses. They don’t even know who will be responsible for administering the fund or how companies can apply. We are being asked to believe that this jam tomorrow scheme is making a difference to our economy today. This is simply not credible.
“What we need to see from the SNP is an urgent investment right now to deliver a transformational investment in education that will give our economy a long term boost.”
