Andrew Metcalf

Scottish Liberal Democrat candidate for Dumfries & Galloway


Andrew was born on a farm in a small village just outside Kirkby Lonsdale in Cumbria before moving to the Ribble Valley in his first year. 

He was employed as an apprentice electrician before he joined the Army. Unfortunately, he had a very serious accident on a motor cycle and damaged his left arm, consequently was discharged due to the disability.

He married Jane in 2005 and moved to the Glen Kens in Dumfries and Galloway where he is involved with many charitable organisations.

He is the Chairman of Carsphairn Community Council, Carsphairn Community Trust, a director of Carsphairn Renewable Energy Fund Ltd, also on the Board of the IT centre in Castle Douglas, Chairman of the Clachan Fair Dalry and a Director of the Stewartry Council of Voluntary Services.
